For me, Buddha has got to be the most photogenic deity and I really wanted to see if I was capable of doing a partial silhouette over watercolour. It wasn’t until I finished, that I was absolutely certain I’d managed it. He appeared to me … a bit like a magic eye painting and I was very relieved!
While I wouldn’t relish encountering a jellyfish if I was swimming in the sea, I do love them. They are like alien creatures, living in our oceans. The complex patterns on their strange bodies and the beautiful way they move is hypnotic…I just had to paint one.
This is one of my early attempts using a combination of pyrography, ink and tiny crystals to embellish. Makes a nice little coaster.
